Fulton Landing – Brooklyn Bridge
The Appropriation of Manhattan, Fulton Ferry Landing, Brooklyn, IV: June 16, 1996
54 x 116 inches (138 x 295 cm)

Lutter’s photographs of the once essential Fulton Ferry Landing mark a pointed time in its history; after the area’s takeover by larger shipping interests and shortly before it was transformed into the leisure destination of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Despite the immense size of Lutter’s prints, her choice to capture Manhattan’s skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge from the low vantage point of the landing fosters an intimacy with the famous sites, something not often attained by more iconic views.
